Why is futures literacy important?

with Charlotte Kemp

04 Aug 2021 11:00 am

Futures Literacy is a concept that UNESCO first developed, and it means using the future to innovate the present. It isn't easy to adapt, innovate, and transform yourself if you cannot anticipate future scenarios. And the discipline of anticipation is futures literacy.

To discuss this further, today, we have Charlotte Kemp from Cape Town, South Africa, as a guest.

In this episode, we talk about:

  • The map, compass, and a guide model.
  • What is future literacy?
  • People talk (a lot) about adaptability - what's your take on it?
  • What can individuals and businesses (small and large) do in their capacity?
  • How to visualize your future before acting on it?
  • What is your view on negative thinking?
  • How can you learn more about this?

Charlotte is a member of the Association of Professional Futurists (APF). She also serves as the President of the Professional Speakers Association of Southern Africa and vice president of the Global Speakers Federation.

As a professional futurist, Charlotte works with organizations to co-create their preferred futures.
